Artist Bio

Philosophy:

Art has always played an important part in my life.  The stones I work with have their own identity.  My goal is to enhance each stone’s beauty within the piece of jewelry.  I am gratified by the emotional connections my pieces evoke and the unique bond formed by creating timeless pieces that I hope will be passed on to the next generation.  It is my hope that these pieces will accent each person’s own individuality and appreciation for our earth’s elements.

 Description:

Custom designed jewelry with precious metals and unusual stones.

My jewelry is created only with sterling silver, fine silver or 14 kt gold designed with unusual stones and gemstones.  I  seek out unique stones from around the world and have been very fortunate in meeting excellent rock hunters and stonecutters. Each one of a kind piece is fabricated.  The process begins with the silver/gold sheet and wire, which is then formed, cut, and soldered into the final design.  In forming the metal, various types of tools are used, such as hammers, rolling mills, chisels, and my hands.  I also like to use movement and different types of surface finishes on the metal to highlight the piece and the stone it holds.  Each piece is signed “M. Frayseth” on the back.
